Prayer Request

We received a prayer request for the niece of Ashley and Jimmy Endress; her name is Taylor. Taylor is a 5 year old girl who suffered 3rd degree burns to her arms and hand after trying to retrieve something from the microwave on Sunday evening. She was at the burn center in Pittsburgh and had surgery Tuesday morning. They used pig skin to cover her wounds. Taylor goes back next week to evaluate if she needs a skin graft.

We ask that you pray for this child; that she would be healed and that the pain she is experiencing is able to easily be controlled. Also pray for the surgical team and medical staff who will be caring for her to be able to do whatever is necessary to help her heal as quickly as possible and without scarring. Pray also for the parents and family of Taylor as they worry about her wellbeing and her recovery.

Thank You.

Prayer Request

We have a couple of prayer requests to share with you.

First, Lynn Sowden, who I sent a prayer request out for Saturday passed away Monday evening. We ask that you continue to lift his family up in prayer as they deal with his sudden illness and passing.

Next, Liz called and asked us to pass along a prayer request for her granddaughter Laura Clark. Laura recently graduated college and has an interview in Pittsburgh this Friday. We ask that you would pray for Laura to do well in her interview, pray that the Lord would calm her fears, ease her anxiety, and help her to complete this interview to the best of her abilities. Also pray that the Lord would give her discernment in deciding if this is a place where she wants to work.

Thank You.

Nazarene Compassionate Ministries: Hurricane Dorian

Hurricane Dorian Response

Last week, Hurricane Dorian moved slowly north, causing days of prolonged destruction over the Bahamas before making landfall in North Carolina. By the time it reached the United States, the storm had weakened considerably. Early satellite data shows that between 75 to 100 percent of the buildings and infrastructure in the worst-hit areas of the Bahamas were damaged.

Recovery from this much damage will take years.

Early reports from the Bahamas indicate that all five of the Nazarene churches there were impacted by the hurricane’s Category 5 winds or damaged by serious flooding, with four to five feet of water inundating most buildings. A Nazarene assessment team has already traveled to the Bahamas, bringing aid packages with food and hygiene items. While they are there, they will be able to determine the best response.
Hurricane Dorian, which is one of the strongest on record, is the first major hurricane to make landfall this year. As the Atlantic hurricane season continues, it is possible that even more damage will come to areas already damaged by Dorian or in the 2018 season.
